This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official conducted a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Annually, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and cafecito as they toasted the pig's pardon.
