The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching personal histories for characters including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer the talented musician. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental option, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder the performer added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be among these.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of the second series, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
