The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting With the Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial championship series following the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.
Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," said Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson commented "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their performance in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.
Toronto secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
