Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.

The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss described the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier.

"There have been such conversations," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a unique position here at a special club. And we're at a crucial stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Aspects

It has been suggested that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "I don't think everyone has to go around and declare what they used to be, but of course it's a really big football club."

McKenna agreed to a new multi-year deal in 2024 and was questioned about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this job like I will remain Ipswich manager indefinitely. I know that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy represented the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Welsh forward is inclined to complete the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and their rivals in next month would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, due to a successful Nations League campaign, should they fail to finish as their group runners-up.

Considering his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
